Papiss Cisse came off the bench to score a brace that helped Newcastle end Jose Mourinho's unbeaten run with the Blues.

Chelsea's perfect season will have to wait.. Against all odds, Newcastle United defeated the current Premier League leaders with a 2-1 score, handing The Blues their first loss this year in any competition.

The teams had a rough first half trying to make the most of their chances, but neither was able to break the deadlock. Perhaps the highlight for the first half was the injury suffered by Robert Elliot, forcing newcomer Jak Alnwick on the pitch.

After the halftime break, Newcastle shocked fans around the globe with two goals by Papiss Cisse, who came off the bench to make fans go crazy. His first goal came just four minutes after going on the pitch, and his second strike capped a beautiful counter attack, putting to good use an assist by Moussa Sissoko. Chelsea fought back, after Steven Taylor's red card following a harsh tackle on Andre Schürrle. Didier Drogba added some drama to the game with a well placed header scoring the consolation goal for the Blues. Eden Hazard and Diego Costa had the chance to equalize, but they were denied by the post and Alnwick, who had a great second half.

This match was the fifth for Jose Mourinho at St. James Park, losing three games out of five with Stamford Bridge's outfit. Furthermore, Papiss Cisse's first goal ended a 498 minute run for Chelsea without conceding a goal in every competition. With this loss, Chelsea's perfect record this year ends with 17 wins and six draws. Finally, this was the first match in which the Blues went behind on the scoreboard and were not able to turn things around.
