Los Rojinegros want to earn their first semi final spot in 10 years, while Monterrey want to show they still remember how to play good football

Atlas and Monterrey will complete the quarter final round in Liga MX's playoffs on Sunday, with the Guadalajara-based team holding a 1-0 lead obtained during Thursday's match in Monterrey. Atlas have not been able to play the semi final round for almost ten years, and this seems to be the perfect situation to achieve such a feat.

Last Thursday, Atlas displayed perfect control of their game, holding Monterrey's strikers to just a couple of shots on Federico Vilar's net. Luis Caballero's magnificent goal from outside the box proved to be too much for Los Rayados, a team that hasn't been able to find their best football for quite a while.

With their home crowd behind them, Atlas will have the table set to return to the semifinals. Tomas Boy's team will need the best from their top players, including Chilean midfielder Rodrigo Millar, Maikon Leite, the wingman from Brazil, and Alfonso Gonzalez, the player most Atlas fans rely on to make them league champions for the first time in 63 years.

The clock is ticking for Monterrey. Los Rayados will have a huge boost with Dorlan Pabon's comeback to help Suazo score some goals. Pabon finished second in the goal scoring table behind Camilo Sanvezzo and Mauro Boselli, and his presence was surely missed on Thursday night. If Carlos Barra's crew can remember how they played during the first weeks of this season, then they could have a fighting chance. Otherwise, their hopes of making the semifinals are minimal.

In order to advance to the next round, the only result Monterrey needs is a victory scoring two goals. If they fail in their quest, then Atlas will have their ticket to the next round.
