The former Arsenal defender has not played a single minutes for Barcelona since his transfer.

If fans wanted to see Thomas Vermaelen in action, they will have to wait a bit longer.

The former Arsenal center back has yet to even play a single minute for Barcelona since making the switch this summer. The 29-year-old, who captained the Gunners in his last two seasons in England, also had some bad luck following him at the World Cup as he returned from Brazil injured and was unable to even participate in pre-season fixtures.

Interestingly, though, despite being the team's skipper, Vermaelen did not enjoy a regular place in the starting XI during his last two seasons. Arsene Wenger's preference for the defensive pariring of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, coupled with some shaky performances, eventually forced him to seek greener pastures elsewhere.

Well, Barcelona fans surely must be wondering why the club forked over £15 million to bring him to Camp Nou as he has now suffered yet another injury, this time, to his hamstring. As a result, Luis Enrique will not have him feature in the team's upcoming meeting with Cyprus outfit APOEL in the Blaugrana's Champions League fixture this week.

Will he make his long-awaited debut before the end of the year? We will just have to wait and see.
