The Argentinian midfielder stated he trusts Lionel Messi will keep playing with Los Blaugranas, despite rumors that place him away from Camp Nou.

Perhaps one of Lionel Messi's best friends is Javier Mascherano. After the controversy sparked by the player's statement regarding a possible departure from Barcelona, "El Jefecito" disregarded those rumors by saying he thinks Messi is quite comfortable at Camp Nou.

"I've always heard nothing but praises. He has thanked Barcelona everytime he's been given a chance. Where have you heard he is upset with the club? He didn't say anything weird. When you're a football player, you can't plan ahead, you can't possibly know what will happen in the next six years. So, I wouldn't listen to all those naysayers, I can see Messi is quite happy here," the midfielder responded.

Asked about their performance in this tournament, Mascherano is aware that they have not met the expectations so far, but while they are still in contention, they will keep trying to bring back the glory days.

"Winning against Almeria was very good for us, even if we didn't play our best. We could go with our National Teams at ease, and we can keep building on from there. This is the time of the season when we have to put everything out there to play like we used to. Who knows, maybe those two defeats in a row will help us determine where we can improve our game," Mascherano added.
