According to Spanish radio station Cope, the 27-year-old Blaugrana star has grown frustrated with the club's board, who have questioned Messi's commitment to the Catalan giants.

Rumors of a Barcelona exit for Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has been in full-drive recently.

Suggestions of a Camp Nou departure has all been sparked by recent comments made by Messi to Ole newspaper in which the four-time Ballon d'Or winner admits he may not end his football career at Barcelona.

"I've always said that I would love to stay forever in Barcelona, but sometimes things don't always add up the way you want. Right now I just want to go day-by-day, earning trophies and that's it. The world of football turns around in a second, you can't be sure of anything. It's complicated to assure something like that, and it's a little harder considering how things are going right now in Barcelona," Leo stated.

Now, as reported by Spanish radio station Cope (per 101 Great Goals), the Catalan giants are preparing to cash in on Messi, and will let him go to “the highest bidder” before the club's presidential elections in 2016.

A La Masia product, Cope claims the Argentine has been left disappointed by the fact that his commitment to the club has been brought into questioning, whilst it is reported that Messi believes the Catalan press has been advised to make Brazilian attacker Neymar the new face of Barcelona prior to La Pulga's exit.

Messi has also been rumored to have become envious of La Liga rival Cristiano Ronaldo, and the way he is valued at Real Madrid, whilst holding former president Sandro Rosell to blame for the current situation.

This revelation by Cope comes a short while after the Albiceleste captain's father, who despite insisting Leo's plans are to remain at Camp Nou, hinted a move away from Barcelona could become a reality.

“The thought is to stay here (in Barcelona),” Jorge Messi said, as quoted by Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia on Wednesday.

“But as people read between the lines there is exaggeration."

“It's clear that if tomorrow the club says to you 'we have this offer, we want to sell you', it would have to be studied. Although right now it is not even on the agenda.”

According to Sport, many of Europe's elites would jump at the chance to acquire Messi's services, but four teams are most likely to land the Argentine: Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, English Premier League duo Manchester City and Chelsea, and Serie A side Inter Milan.
