The Dutch manager also stated he believes it would be fair that a German player won this year's Ballon D'Or rather than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

Dutch manager Louis Van Gaal diminished his possibilities of winning the Coach of the Year award. Manchester United's boss stated today he does not have enough merits this year to be a suitable candidate for the trophy.

"When you look at Manchester United's season so far, I think it's unbelievable that I'm on the Coach of the Year shortlist," Van Gaal said today.

Regarding the controversy about the nominees for the Ballon D'Or, Van Gaal's a pretty good idea of where the winner should be from.

"The best thing to win is the World Cup, so I hope it will be a German player because they deserve it. In Germany, the level of the Bundesliga matches is also very high so I think it should be a German player. I think it will be Ronaldo or Messi but I want to say that you have to win something,” the Dutch manager added.

Manchester United will return to Premier League action this weekend with their matchup against Arsenal, where they will try overcome injuries to several key players.
