The former Real Madrid player believes his new teammate is 'the greatest goalkeeper' he's ever played with, snubbing Spain's Iker Casillas.

Xabi Alonso can't be blamed of not supporting his teammates. The Spanish midfielder stated in an interview that it would be quite fair for Neuer to earn this year's Ballon D'Or, beating his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

"It would be fair if Manuel won, no doubt. He is by far the best goalkeeper I've ever played with, and he is an excellent eleventh man on the pitch. If you consider team merits, then Manuel and other German players would be favorites to win. Fingers crossed for my Bayern teammates," Alonso said.

The player born in Tolosa also talked about his decision to join Bayern Munich, where he intends to keep winning top trophies.

“There were several things: the atmosphere on the pitch, the crowds, the stadiums, which are very exciting, and the chance to win my third Champions League with three different teams," Alonso added.

Bayern are currently leading the Bundesliga with an undefeated record, while they have qualified for the UEFA Champions League knockout stage with two games remaining in their group.
