The English international has had a difficult season so far for Brendan Rodgers' side.

Last season, Daniel Sturridge, combined with Luis Suarez, were the most prolific striking duo in Europe's top leagues. Their slew of goals helped Liverpool to make a serious push for the Premier League title, and although they ended up having to settle for second place, they nonetheless made a return to the Champions League after a hiatus.

The departure of the Uruguayan ace was supposed to give the English international a chance to shine as the new focal point in Brendan Rodgers' attack, but things have not gone as well as he would have liked, much to the dismay of Reds fans as they have watched their team struggle so far this season.

The team's misfiring forwards, coupled with Sturridge's fitness issues have seen Liverpool drop to 11th place in the table. In fact, the trio of Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli, and Fabio Borini have failed to net a goal in over 800 minutes of Premier League action. And unfortunately for Sturridge and Rodgers, it looks like the 25-year-old's woes are far from over.

A day after posting a humorous meme on social media, reports have now emerged that he has now again injured a muscle in his thigh and could face another long spell on the sidelines.

While no further information regarding whether he can feature this weekend, this blow will be a huge setback for the player, who had already missed 10 weeks of action, as well as his manager who is desperately seeking to see his side haul themselves up the league table.
