Perhaps one of the most anticipated matches in this international week was the one between Argentina and Portugal at Old Trafford. The gathering between football's top performers seemed to be a thrilling way to end international games in 2014, but unfortunately, the game disappointed almost everybody.
First of all, both superstars were not playing at their top form. Lionel Messi was closest to scoring a goal, but Cristiano had double or triple coverage the few times he had the ball. The first half ended with a not-so-happy crowd, but things would not get any better after the break.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi left the pitch during the break, which led to a bigger disappointment from the crowd. Not even Angel Di Maria or Carlos Tevez's comeback with the Argentinians shifted the course of the game, and several boos were heard coming down from the stands.
It seemed that the game would end with a draw, when the Portuguese recovered the ball in Argentina's firts quarter, and after a shot on goal deflected by Eder, the ball found its way to Ricardo Quaresma, who served the ball to debutant Raphael Guerreiro. Alone in the box, Guerreiro headed the ball past the keeper's hands and into the back of the net. With this goal, Portugal won their first match against Argentina in 42 years, even if it wasn't the show everyone anticipated.

Rumours that Raphael Guerreiro, who scored the winner for Portugal tonight, doesn't even speak Portuguese, grew up and plays in France.

Incredible! Portugal, having defended for 89 minutes, have the lead. Raphaël Guerreiro, the Lorient left-back, scores on his 2nd start ever!
