Despite spending his entire career with Roma, Francesco Totti could have been plying his trade elsewhere.

Although he has been at Roma for his entire career, Francesco Totti could have been featuring for another club.

The iconic captain, who recently celebrated his 38th birthday and 22nd season with the Giallorossi is notable in that only a handful of players across Europe's biggest leagues can boast that they have played for just one club over the course of their careers.

However, the 2006 World Cup winner, who recently became the oldest ever goalscorer in the Champions League was the target of fellow Serie A side Milan during his earlier days and was working his way up through the club's youth ranks.

"We tried to sign [Francesco] Totti when he was a boy, but we were unsuccessful," Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani recently admitted.

"It was just too hard to convince him to leave Roma, [even then]."

Fans of the capital club have always respected the talismanic attacker for his loyalty through the good and tough times at Roma. And, certainly Milan supporters may occasionally wonder what could have been had the 7-time Champions League winners been able to convince him to depart the Eternal City in favor of Italy's fashion capital.
