The former U.S. Attorney, who conducted the bribery investigation, stated today his report reflected several findings that were ignored by FIFA

Michael Garcia, the former U.S. Attorney who conducted FIFA's bribery investigation regarding the election of Russia and Qatar as host nations for the upcoming World Cups, stated today he will appeal the entity's decision of clearing both countries of any wrongdoing.

Garcia shared his thoughts through a press release, in which he indicated why he intends to dispute FIFA's Ethics Committee decision.

"I mean to appeal this decision. The report published by FIFA includes several incomplete representations of our findings, distorting facts and arriving to inadequate conclusions. We will notify the public when we decide to do so," Garcia revealed.

Reactions emerged from around the globe, including that of the English Football Association, which considered the report to be "a mockery". According to FA's president Greg Dyke, there are still answers to be found about why Qatar was given the right to organize the tournament.

"I still don't understand why Qatar was granted the 2022 World Cup, since it was pretty clear to FIFA's Techincal Committee it is a high risk decision. If the man that conducted this investigation wishes to appeal these results, then you have to consider this a bad joke," Dyke stated.

The English Football Association intended to host World Cup 2018, but their bid was snubbed by FIFA following accusations of a possible agreement to benefit CONCACAF's ex president Jack Warner.
