Despite just arriving in Spain, the Welsh star could be set for a shock return to England.

Although Gareth Bale just arrived at Real Madrid in a blockbuster deal last summer, reports have consistently linked the speedy attacker with an exit.

The capital club forked out about £85 million to bring in the Welsh star form Tottenham and after a difficult settling in period, the 25-year-old quickly became a instrumental part in Carlo Ancelotti's side, scoring vital goals in the Copa del Rey and Champions League finals.

However, as the Italian tactician has discovered the versatility of Isco, Bale's position in the starting XI has apparently come under threat, despite netting a good 28 goals in just under 60 appearances in all competitions thus far.

And according to reports in Italy, he indeed could be set for a sensational departure and return to England. Tuttomercatoweb links him with Chelsea, while setting his estimated price at €75 million. They also reference the huge money sales of first Mesut Ozil and then Angel Di Maria to Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester United as evidence that the club have no problem in selling off key players at a good price.

While it seems unthinkable that Real Madrid would consider selling him, they have shown so far this season the depth of the squad and could ultimately decide to part with a prized asset, especially if it could free up funds for the next big thing on the market.
