Spain vs Belarus will be featured in a Euro 2016 Qualifying encounter on Saturday, the 15th of November at the Estadio Nuevo Colombino.

The defending champions are second in Group C and will be aiming for all three points when they go against Andrei Zygmantovich's Belarus. La Roja are still feeling shocks from their disappointing World Cup campaign and after mauling Macedonia 5-1 in their opening Euro 2016 Qualifier, Del Bosque's men suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Slovakia.

However Spain restored order in their next outing when they picked a 4-0 win over Luxembourg. David Silva opened up the scoring for the home side. Paco Alcácer, Diego Costa and Bernat added goal apiece as Spain raced to a 4-0 victory.

However the defending champions are set to be without Brazilian born striker Diego Costa for Saturday's game. The 26 year olds inclusion caused a lot of controversy when the former Atletico Madrid man was selected for the game against Luxembourg. Following the match Costa picked up an injury something which did not bode well with the Chelsea camp.

Even though Costa represented the Blues as they recorded a 2-1 win over Liverpool on  Sunday, The Spanish head coach insisted that it would have been 'counterproductive' had he included Costa in his squad for the matches against Belarus and Germany.

"There is nothing to discuss," he told reporters when asked about Costa's absence from the squad to face Belarus and Germany.

"Somebody has probably suggested that it is a weakness on Spain's behalf but it is not a weakness or arrogance."

"We are football people and fully aware of the situation with Diego. The other day I said he would play against Liverpool, and he did, but two games in the international break would have been counter-productive and damaging to his health. That's the case. It has nothing to do with anything else."

Costa's club teammate Cesc Fabregas has also been withdrawn from the squad after the Spanish national team medical staff deemed him as being unfit for the game.

Belarus on the other hand are currently fifth in the table, ahead of group bottomers Luxembourg only on goal difference. They are yet to record a win in the Euro 2016 qualifiers and will be in a less than buoyant mood as they go against a Spanish side which is eager to prove a point after a less than impressive World Cup campaign.
