The German shot stopper knows his injury earlier this season was the primary reason for losing the starting spot against Chilean Claudio Bravo

One of Barcelona's goalkeepers, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, has not enjoyed much playing time with his new club. The former Borussia Moenchengladbach keeper has started only in a few games for Los Cules, including their UCL loss against Paris Saint-Germain. After yesterday's match against Ajax, the German international spoke about his current situation with his new team.

"Unfortunately for me, I came down with an injury in the worst possible moment. After that, Claudio (Bravo) has done an excellent job, and it has been hard for me to play. I'm trying my best to give Luis Enrique a hard time deciding, since it would not be professional to ask why I'm not playing. Whenever I get the chance, I have to demonstrate I can be up to the task, and against Ajax I think I pulled it off," the German stated.

Despite being harshly criticized after making a mistake in their 3-2 loss against PSG, Ter Stegen stated he counts with his teammates, since they have supported him from the start.

"When we played in Paris I made a mistake, but I did not have a bad game. Unfortunately, all the critics focused on making it bigger, but I'm aware things always end up being like that. My teammates have been there for me when I've needed them, and I'm truly happy here. With their support, all I can do to back them up is to give my best everytime I'm on the pitch," he added.
