Aside from a slip against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayern have passed their tests against the big teams they have played this season with flying colors. Tests rarely come bigger than Borussia Dortmund, the team Bayern faced in the previous weekend. Dortmund took the lead, not exactly against the run of play, when Marco Reus headed the ball past Manuel Neuer. However, Bayern fought back. They showed they had enough tactical nous and sufficient depth to prevent the astute Jürgen Klopp's tactics from beating them. Robert Lewandowski score the equalizer, having been set up by Franck Ribery. Ribery then won a penalty which Arjen Robben converted to hand Bayern the three points.

Bayern's next test is Roma; the biggest problem might turn out to be complacency after they put seven past the Romans in Italy in a scintillating display. Roma lost against Napoli in the past week but will surely be motivated to beat Bayern considering the result of the first match between the two sides. Bayern can qualify for the next round with either a win or a draw, joining Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16 in the process. A win will guarantee them top spot in the group regardless of results on the upcoming two match days.

Pep Guardiola has almost his entire team available apart from long term absentees such as Javier Martinez, Thiago Alcantara, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Holger Badstuber. Unfortunately, Claudio Pizarro is going to be out due to a thigh strain. Pizarro's importance as a supersub as well as a good influence on the bench cannot be underestimated. He is important for team morale. Roma's morale might not be at its peak; even a point in this match might help raise their spirits undoubtedly.
