The Argentinian manager would replace Manuel Pellegrini if the Sky Blues fail to qualify to the UCL's Round of 16 or if they can't revalidate their Premier League title.

Manchester City's owners may try to shake things up if the team doesn't achieve any of their objectives this season. After being eliminated in the Capital One Cup last week, sources indicate Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini would have to step aside from his managerial duties, to give Diego Simeone the chance to lead the Sky Blues next season.

Pellegrini may not have his bosses as happy as he would want since the team failed to eliminate Newcastle last week, and having the team on the verge of elimination in the UEFA Champions League, where they have always fell short of winning the tournament.

"If they don't manage to win the Premier League again and fail to qualify to the next round of the Champions League, then Simeone would be unveiled next summer as the Citizens new coach," sources indicate.

Diego Simeone earned the first title for Atletico Madrid in almost 20 years, and reached the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid in overtime. However, the Argentinian coach has not stated if he wants to continue with Los Colchoneros or if he would be willing to change his workplace.
