The Uruguayan Football Association's President wants the tournament to be held in his country to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup

The Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) pretends to host the World Cup 2030 in their territory, intending to involve one of their neighboring countries to take on the complicated enterprise. According to Wilmar Valdez, AUF's  President, Uruguay will present a project to FIFA on November 26, which would involve Chile or Argentina.

"Argentina would have priority, but Chile also would be an option. We believe there is a strong possibilty that either two or the three countries can host the tournament, but we'll leave it to the Board to decide which countries can host it," Valdez stated.

The Uruguayan executive revealed that he has held talks with his Chilean counterpart, Sergio Jadue,  who has shown interest in co-hosting the tournament, given Chile will be in charge of organizing next year's Copa America.

"If we can organize correctly the U-17 tournament and next year's Copa America, then we will obviously prove FIFA we can manage hosting the World Cup, whether we do it with some other country or by ourselves," Jadue added.

The Uruguayan Federation will present their project on November 26, probably knowing by then which country will take the task with them of hosting the World Cup's Centennial tournament.
