Messi and Co. failed to seal a victory as the Catalan giants' shock 1-0 home loss to Celta Vigo, on the back of last week's El Clasico defeat, see them slip to third behind Real Madrid in the table

Many expected Barcelona's home clash with Celta Vigo to be an opportunity for Luis Enrique's crew to return to winning ways.

The Blaugrana last week experienced their first defeat of the season in La Liga when they traveled to face rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico at Santiago Bernabeu, last Saturday, an encounter which the Catalan giants lost 3-1.

Fast forward a week later and the pressure continues to pile up on Barcelona and their manager as Celta Vigo edged past the home side in front of the thousands of fans at Camp Nou, beating Messi and Co. 1-0, their first away win over the Spanish Primera Division heavyweights in 73 years.

Joaquin Larrivey strike in the second-half was enough to separate the two sides as Barcelona's attacking trio, consisting of 4-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi, Brazilian superstar Neymar, and Uruguayan hotshot Luis Suarez, fresh of his four-month ban, hit the woodwork four times as they failed the find the back of the net.

Scoring the winning goal in the 55th minute past Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, Larrivey's goal came through a wonderful assist from Nolito. With his back towards the goal, the Celta Vigo ace completed a wonderfully executed back heel pass which penetrated the Barcelona back-four, setting up Saturday night's only goal.

Conceding their first goal at home since the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in last season's final game, defeat means Barcelona, who entered Matchday 10 as league leaders, have now lost ground on rivals Real Madrid,

Los Blancos enjoyed a comfortable 4-0 win over Granada, leapfrogging the Blaugrana into first place, with defending champions Los Rojiblancos grabbing second, whilst Luis Enrique's side dropped to third spot.

Enrique, who managed Celta Vigo prior to being appointed Barcelona boss, admitted his anger at seeing his team lose for a second consecutive time, saying:

“I am not worried and I liked the players’ attitude but I am p****d off at not being able to win the game.

"For sure there are things we can improve but I would sign up for having that many opportunities again in a match."
