English news source talkSPORT has released the list of the Top 5 highest earning managers in England. What if the ranking told something about the EPL’s standings by the end of the season?

According to talkSPORT, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is the highest earning coach in the Premier League, with the Top 5 sharing a total of £28.98M between themselves every year.

The 51-year-old manager is yet to be beaten in all competitions, this season. Since his return to Chelsea in June 2013, he has not lifted a trophy with the Blues. However, the outspoken Portuguese manager is on course to putting his trophiless season behind him.

Last Sunday at Old Trafford, Mourinho managed his 70th game in his second spell as head coach of the Blues. His record, as of October 29th, stands at 46 wins, 13 draws and 12 losses. Tuesday’s narrow win away to Shrewsbury helped him improve his winning percentage record which is of 64.79 per cent. Mourinho’s earnings? £8.37M-a-year!

At number two is Louis van Gaal with £7M. He left his post as coach of the Netherlands’ national team this summer to replace David Moyes. LVG is still looking to build consistency with the Red Devils who are only eighth on the Premier League table.

After snatching a vital point at home to current EPL leaders Chelsea last Sunday, the Dutch manager has to find a formula to win against Manchester City’s Manuel Pellegrini. The latter is the fourth highest earning manager with £3.47M-a-year.

In between, there is Arsene Wenger with £6.98M while Liverpool’s Brendan Rodgers seats at the bottom of the five-man list with £3.25M a year.
