According to reports, the former Tottenham star could be surprisingly put up for sale by the Liga giants.

Although Gareth Bale only arrived at Real Madrid in 2013, the Welsh star could be set for an early exit.

The 10-time Champions League winners splashed out an astronomical £75-85 million (depending on which sources one uses) to bring the speedy attacker to the capital. And initially, after a difficult settling-in period that was marred by injuries, the former Tottenham star began to quickly adjust to life in La Liga.

Real Madrid fans will especially remember his vital goals in the Copa del Rey against Barcelona and again in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid, and in total, he was involved in 27 of his team's league goals during the 2013/2014 season (15 goals and 12 assists).

However, according to reports, he could be set for an early exit due to the wealth of talent Carlo Ancelotti has at his disposal. The emergence of Isco has apparently threatened Bale's position in the starting XI and hence the capital club could opt to cash in on him.

Manchester United are the club that have been pipped to make a move for the 25-year-old, but he won't come cheap. £90 million will be the asking price, on top of a £300,000 weekly pay packet.

Still the Red Devils have shown that they're willing to splash the cash, breaking the English transfer record when they signed Bale's former teammate Angel Di Maria for £59.7 million. They also spent big to acquire young defender Luke Shaw from Southampton for £27 million and Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao for £29 million.
