Barcelona managed to score first, but Real Madrid was able to come back with goals by Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe and Karim Benzema

Real Madrid made the most of their home field advantage, and after a dubious start, managed to outscore Barcelona 3-1 in the first Clasico of this season.

Los cules surprised Carlo Ancelotti by starting Luis Suarez, who seemed out of shape after his four month ban. Nevertheless, it was the Uruguayan who assisted Neymar for the first goal, just three minutes after the game had started. Neymar controlled Suarez's cross, and approached the box to strike the ball with his right foot to net it past Iker Casillas.

Real Madrid fought back, attacking relentlessly Claudio Bravo's net. Karim Benzema was not accurate with two shots that ended up consecutively hitting the bar. But it had to be Cristiano Ronaldo who scored the equalizer for Los Blancos, transforming a penalty kick after a hand ball by Gerard Pique.

After the halftime break, Ancelotti's team started with a bang, turning things around with a corner kick headed by Pepe. Just after an hour of playing time, Karim Benzema scored the third goal for Madrid, capping a marvelous counter attack that was generated after a corner kick taken by Barcelona. Los Blancos had more chances to broaden the score, but were not able to put the ball past Claudio Bravo, and dominated the ball for the rest of the game.

With this result, Barcelona will still hold the first place in La Liga, but Sevilla may send them down if they win against Villarreal. Real Madrid cuts Barcelona's advantage to just one point, and looking better than ever in this tournament.
