After being humiliated last season in the Champions League semi-finals, Bayern Munich are definitely back on track.
Die Roten had to work hard for 1-0 wins over Manchester City and more surprisingly, Russian outfit CSKA Moscow prior to arriving in the Italian capital for the much anticipated clash with a recently refurbished and hungry Roma side.
The Giallorossi, who have returned to the Champions League after several seasons without European football, have been in good form so far in Serie A as well as in Europe. However, instead of a fierce battle over the course of 90 minutes, the game was pretty much over in the first half.
5 goals from die Roten in under 40 minutes were enough to leave Rudi Garcia's men reeling, and in a repeat the German national team's demolition of Brazil during this summer's World Cup, Pep Guardiola's men were more than happy to add two more to complete their rout and make mincemeat of the Serie A runners-up.
Naturally, while Bayern's traveling supporters were in seventh heaven, Roma's fans were in shock and dismay as they saw their side humiliated at the Stadio Olimpico.
As a result, Twitter was full of reactions to Bayern's blitz of their Italian opponents:
And we’ve officially got a Germany-Brazil repeat. Shaqiri makes it 7-1 to Bayern. Dante thrilled to be on the right side of it this time.

The German powerhouse also made a bit of a joke during the rout:

It's in reference to WBA's tweet about much-maligned midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who scored shortly after his introduction:
