The Spanish midfielder also spoke about his candidates to win the UEFA Champions League and the difference between La Liga and Germany's top flight division.

After his first month playing with Bayern Munich, Xabi Alonso spoke about his tenure playing with the German champions, and how Pep Guardiola was key to his arrival to Allianz Arena.

"He is very methodical. And I have seen that he is a great worker – he spends so many hours thinking about each game. Was he was one of the reasons why I came here? Yes, of course. He showed a lot of interest in me coming here, and it was very important for me to feel that confidence from the coach," Alonso stated in an interview.

In the eve of UEFA Champions League matchday 3, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid player reflected on which teams would be capable of winning the coveted trophy.

"Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, ourselves… Dortmund are always a tricky club to play against. So I respect lots of clubs; Paris Saint Germain as well. It's quite open,"Alonso added.

The two-time UEFA Champions League winner also stated what seems to be the difference between his home country's league and the German Bundesliga.

"Here, the game is quicker. It's more physical, and in that sense you notice the difference. The Liga is slower, and the games are more technical. I would say that the Bundesliga is more like the Premier League than the Liga," Xabi concluded.
