The veteran Spanish midfielder has quickly settled into life in Germany and scored his side's second against Werder Bremen with this brilliant effort.

Xabi Alonso's move to Bayern Munich was certainly one of the more surprising transfers this summer.

The veteran Spanish midfielder, who began his career with Real Sociedad before establishing himself as a top-notch player at Liverpool and then Real Madrid, departed the club where he won his second Champions League trophy for an undisclosed fee near the end of the transfer window.

Now playing in his third top European league, he has quickly adjusted to life not just under Pep Guardiola but also as a key part of die Roten's squad, and recently set a new German football record for the most passes and touches completed (over 200) when his side defeated Koln 2-0.

And what better way to finally make one's mark by scoring a goal? That's exactly what the 32-year-old did as not surprisingly Bayern cruised to yet another win over a dismal Werder Bremen side. And it just so happens to be his first ever of certainly many more goals to come for his new team.

Check out Alonso's cheeky free-kick to make it 2-0 for the hosts:

One might wonder if Real Madrid are regretting selling such a class player to a European rival, perhaps?
