The International Break gave some Bayern stars a chance to recuperate. However, it also brought bad news. Thiago Alcantara for example suffered substantial damage to his body once again upon his return to training. Thiago's Bayern career has so far been riddled with injuries. This injury sees him ruled out for the toughest run-ins of the season. Bastian Schweinsteiger is recovering gradually and might return before the end of the year. Meanwhile, his German colleagues, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, Mario Götze and Jerome Boateng are returning to Bavaria rather unhappily.
Müller was frustrated countless times in front of goal by opposition players as Germany struck a grand total of one goal in two internationals. Boateng was partly at fault as was Neuer for the first goal Germany conceded against Poland. Robert Lewandowski will be returning happily after helping Poland to a historic win over Germany. His team then drew 2-2 against Scotland. Lewandowski was instrumental against Germany, hassling the back four endlessly. Shaqiri returns after scoring for his country during the break.
Bayern currently sit at the top of the Bundesliga table. In the upcoming 11 days, they have to play no less than four matches. Following this match against struggling Bremen, Bayern have to turn their attention to AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League. Guardiola might thus opt to rest some starters in this one. Both Müller and Götze perhaps deserve rests after featuring in both of Germany's matches.
Bayern beat Hannover 96, 4-0, in their previous Bundesliga match. Robert Lewandowski, who has not yet adjusted completely to life in Bavaria, struck twice in that match. Arjen Robben scored the other goals.
