The Australian midfielder, who plays for NY Red Bulls, asks for a vote of confidence for the Middle Eastern country to host football's most important tournament.

In a timeframe where supporting Qatar as World Cup hosts seems like a risky propostion, Australian midfielder Tim Cahill spoke in favor of the Middle Eastern country, since he knows first-hand they have what it takes to put together a great tournament:

"Every time I come here I'm like 'wow'. They should be proud of what they are creating. For me, I have no problem, I think they deserve the opportunity. There are some people that talk about the heat and talk about the facilities, but they have to question themselves as to whether they have actually been here," Cahill stated.

The Australian, who has scored at least one goal for his country in the previous three World Cups, believe every country should have a chance to host the tournament, even though Qatar's designation was severely controversial:

"I believe these people will prove a lot of people wrong, and if they don't, they will hold their hands up gracefully because that's the kind of people they are. You have to give football a chance in every nation," Cahill added.

Qatar's hosting bid is currently under investigation. The "Garcia report" will be revealed only to FIFA officers, having some legends like Franz Beckenbauer requesting it to be made public.
