The German star will be out for the next couple of months and Wenger has admitted what he knew about his injury and when.

Arsene Wenger has conceded that he knew about Mesut Ozil's latest injury well before it was flagged while he was away on international duty with Germany.

The £42.5 million signing--the most expensive ever player for the Gunners--will be out until early next year after it was revealed he had damaged some ligaments in his knee.

Setback: Record signing Mesut Ozil has struggled during his sophomore season in London and his troubles are far from over

Plenty of fingers were pointed as to who knew what when surrounding the 2014 World Cup winner's injury, and interestingly, Arsene Wenger has now come out and revealed that he recognized that his star signing had a problem, but had him carry on and play the full 90 minutes against Chelsea.

"He had a little problem just before he went out at half-time. He had a little pain with his knee [as] he felt a crack," the long-serving French tactician recently admitted in an interview with beIN Sport.

"I said to our physio to keep an eye on him and if there was anything wrong with him, tell me because when you’re 1-0 down, you want to keep your offensive players on the pitch.

"[But] I am deeply shocked [because] he wasn’t involved in a collision with anybody. It was just after making a pass with the outside of his foot that he injured his leg so it’s very hard to believe that you can damage your ligament with just making a simple pass.

"And it’s very difficult to [deal with] that he will be out for a while."

Certainly, Gunners fans will not be impressed with this latest revelation as the squad are currently without a whole host of players due to injury for both their domestic and continental campaigns.
