The former Real Madrid coach took the job in 2008, leading Spain to win the 2010 World Cup and the Euro 2012.

Following their recent results and after a disappointing performance in this summer's World Cup, Vicente del Bosque has stated he will leave Spain's Head coaching gig after the Euro 2016, if they manage to qualify.

During an interview, the Spanish coach acknowledged he is considering seriously to leave the position, in which he became World Champion in 2010:

"It's a sure thing. Getting the team to play in France is my last goal. We'll see, but it's 99 percent sure. I will always try to stand for this team, whether I'm on the sideline or at home," Del Bosque said.

The Spanish coach revealed in November he would extend his contract with his country's football Federation until 2016, but the team's disappointing World Cup fueled rumors of an earlier departure.

Del Bosque also referred to Iker Casillas and Gerard Pique, since their current shape has raised doubts among the press and fans on whether they should keep playing for the National Team:

"Iker's situation is complicated. We will stand beside him, but we will keep our options open. With Gerard it's the same thing. We are glad he had a good game against Luxembourg, because if he hadn't we would be taking serious heat from you guys," Del Bosque added.

Regarding his relationship with the Spanish Football Federation officers, Del Bosque revealed there is nothing to worry about, since they have spoken frankly about what happened during the past World Cup:

"I think that they have pondered everything we've done here, and they think the previous six years are more valuable than the latest matches that sent us home in the summer," Del Bosque ended.
