After scoring the second goal of the game, Inter Milan's player had an elbow thrown to his face, disabling him of finishing the first half of the game.

Chile had a fine performance yesterday beating Peru 3-0. With two goals by Eduardo Vargas and one more by Gary Medel, Jorge Sampaoli's squad showed their class to top their South American opponents.

The downside for the Chileans was the injury to Gary Medel. After scoring his goal, Rinaldo Cruzado threw an elbow to the midfielder's mouth. As a result, Medel had to leave the pitch after 44 minutes with two broken teeth.

When the match was over, the Chilean Federation released a statement regarding Medel's shape:

"After being injured in our friendly match against Peru, our player Gary Medel underwent corrective surgery to his mouth, coming down with two fractured teeth. Furthermore, the player had stitches in his tongue, which also was damaged after the impact," the press release stated.
