Spain's coach also recognized his team is having a hard time recovering from recent retirements of key players such as Xabi Alonso and Xavi Hernandez

Spanish head coach Vicente del Bosque held himself responsible for the current crisis in La Roja. Del Bosque stated during an interview he sees his team without the confidence they showed before, but he trusts this moment shall pass soon and they will bring the good times back:

"I'm not asking for forgiveness, I know we have represented our country in a great way in the past few years, and we will try to keep doing so as long as we can. Yesterday's match seemed to be like those we used to solve, but somehow we ended up losing," Del Bosque said.

The former Real Madrid coach also defended his goalkeeper Iker Casillas, since he thinks criticism is harder on him given his recent past and rumors:

"I think the people of Spain should feel very proud of Casillas, but I can't put an end to all those that criticize him. Everybody puts all the pressure on the goalie, but I believe that's wrong. Iker's got a great attitude and keeps working hard," the coach added.

Another player that has received harsh reviews is Diego Costa. Vicente del Bosque also stood by his striker, even though he hasn't been able to score with La Roja:

"If we hadn't called him up, then the debate would be why we didn't. He is the current scoring leader in the Premier League and he was one of the best strikers last season, that's why he is starting. I feel bad for him, because he just wants to please everybody and is risking a lot playing with us," Del Bosque added.

Spain will face Luxembourg in their next qualifying match for Euro 2016. Del Bosque revealed he will make some changes in the starting lineup, but refused to comment which spots will be replaced.
