Louis Van Gaal takes a huge blow in the transfer market as the Giallorossi stated their star Dutch midfielder will not be moving to Old Trafford any time soon

Roma president James Pallotta has ruled out a Manchester United move for their star Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman, who arrived at Stadio Olimpico only a year back, in the summer of 2013.

The former PSV Eindhoven star was a hit with the Giallorossi last season as Rudi Garcia's men finished a strong second-place in Serie A, coming runners-up to eventual champions Juventus.

Currently sidelined with a serious knee injury that ruled him out of this summer's World Cup tournament in Brazil, Strootman has been heavily linked with a reunion with former Netherlands national team coach Louis Van Gaal, with reports suggesting the 20-time English Premier League champions are planning a January bid for the 24-year-old.

However, Palloto, whilst speaking at the Leaders Sport Business Summit in London, insisted Roma have no intentions of seeing Strootman depart the club.

“It is just not happening. We don’t have any interest in selling Kevin," Pallotta declared.

“Obviously, as business people, when people call us and say, ‘We want your player’, you are going to listen to them. You have to do that, that is the business side.

"That doesn’t mean you are going to make a decision that £75m [means] bang, you hit the bid. That is not the way it is going work, it is not the way it does work with us.

“In Kevin’s case, internally, we have never had a discussion that went ‘Let’s sell Kevin’. Not to anybody, let alone Man United.”

When asked if the right amount of money could prise Roma of the Oranje ace, Palloto told BBC 5 Radio Live that their goal is not only making profit, but rather building a world-class team.

"Our view is that we want to put a great team out there, but we are not saying, ‘We have to make a ton of money.’ Our goal across the board is stability.”
