The biggest rivalry from Jalisco will have one more clash this weekend. Atlas will try to take advantage of Chivas, right now in the middle of a crisis. While Tomas Boy's side have everything set to earn three points, El Rebaño will try to appeal to their self respect to give their fans a reason to smile about.
If you could describe Chivas' season with one word, that word would have to be "disastrous". It seems like top quality players such as Angel Reyna, Carlos Salcido and Aldo de Nigris, among others, suddenly forgot how to play. Furthermore, Carlos Bustos was a complete disappointment as Guadalajara's coach, leaving this so called powerful team in the lower part of the standings. Chivas have aggravated their relegation problems, and things are not looking too sharp for them as they face one of the best teams in this Apertura 2014 tournament.
On the other hand, Atlas' players appear to know themselves with their eyes closed. They have performed beautifully, earning them the third spot this tournament, and raising themselves as candidates for the title. Newcomer Arturo Gonzalez, Chilean Rodrigo Millar and defender Leandro Cufre have led Los Rojinegros to a wonderful start, and they will try to make it count when it matters most, when they enter the pitch against their most hated opponent.
Chivas will try to save face in front of their homecrowd, and security will have their hands full, since last tournament's edition ended with a fight between Chivas fans and the policemen assigned to guard them. Atlas will try to take a stand, and once and for all, be considered true title contenders.
