Much to the delight of the Blues fans, their star striker will be ready for Sunday's London derby

Chelsea's star striker Diego Costa has declared himself fit for Sunday's highly-anticipated London derby clash with Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side.

The Spanish attacker, who moved to Stamford Bridge for a £32m this summer after a very successful title-winning season in La Liga with Atletico Madrid, has been the club's hottest player since the new English Premier League season kicked off.

The 25-year-old has taken life at the English Premier League with an excellent start, banging eight goals in the first six fixtures, as Jose Mourinho's side lead the way in the standings.

However, the table-toppers will be hosting the Gunners this Sunday, a tough test to Chelsea's title credentials, and will be hoping their leading scorer will be up and ready for the juicy encounter.

"Of course I will play against Arsenal," said Costa. "I am certain. I played 90 minutes [in Lisbon] and now I can have a rest. I do not see a problem.

"There are a few niggles that are annoying me, but I am working to treat them during the week with the physios and the medical staff. Every day I feel closer."

The Brazilian-born ace made these assuring comments after his side's 1-0 triumph over Portugese outfit Sporting Lisbon

With Fabregas coming up against his former team, and Mourinho going head-to-head with arch nemesis Arsene Wenger, Costa will add spark to an already feisty encounter.
