The Premier League heavyweights have been linked with a shock move for the 2014 Champions League winner.

Although the transfer window just ended, it has not stopped the rumor mill from quietly churning away with prospects of moves for some of the game's biggest stars.

And the latest one involved Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos, with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City being linked with an interest in the powerful 28-year-old defender.

The driving force behind the interest, at least according to English publications, is current City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who previously worked with the World Cup and Champions League winner during his 2009-2010 spell with the capital club.

As per the Daily Star, Ramos would be offered a nice salary of £7.7 million per year to make the switch to England.

Reports claim that the Spanish star is on the radar of Premier League giants Manchester City

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also been linked with him due to Jose Mourinho's having worked with the Spanish international during his own tenure at Real Madrid.

And his agent has even publicly admitted Premier League interest in his client, revealing in March:

"Out of respect to the club I will only say that they are English, and the offers [we received were] very, very big in economical terms."
