With their third straight win in La Liga, it seems hard times are over for Real Madrid's fans. Today, Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo led Los Blancos in a 2-0 victory against Villarreal. With today's strikes, Real Madrid totalled a shocking 15 goals in three matches.
Real Madrid managed to control the early actions of the game, basing their dominance on Toni Kroos' performance in midfield, helped by Colombian James Rodriguez. After 32 minutes, Modric placed a beautiful strike in the back of Villarreal's net, putting to good use possession stats that favored Los Merengues. Just eight minutes after Modric's goal, Cristiano Ronaldo netted his tenth goal this season after an assist by Karim Benzema. This goal puts Ronaldo in third place of the all-time scoring list for Los Blancos.
After the halftime break, Villarreal tried to make a comeback, basing their hopes on Giovani Dos Santos' return from an injury. The Mexican striker could not score after two good saves by Iker Casillas, who started as Madrid's goalkeeper one more time.
