La Liga is all set to recommence for the first time following the transfer deadline day which was rather quiet for the biggest clubs in Spain. In the pick of fixtures Real Madrid will lock horns with Atletico in a match which could ultimately have a huge impact on the title race.

The two sides went toe to toe last season but it was Atletico who pulled the shock of the season after winning the La Liga title at the expense of Barcelona and Real Madrid. The defending champions will now embark on a difficult journey as they look to retain the title. Los Colchoneros defeated Real over two legs in the Super Cup and will be looking for a win once again but will be against a Real Madrid side which welcomes back star forward Cristiano Ronaldo to the side.

Los Blancos will be keen to seek vengeance for their Super Cup loss but will also be looking to redeem themselves after a 4-2 loss at the hands of Real Sociedad last time out.

Barcelona on the other hand welcome Athletic Bilbao to the Camp Nou on Saturday. The Blaugrana are the only side to have a perfect record so far having won both their matches and they will now be hoping to continue their good run. Barcelona’s good run is also down to the form of their talismanic forward Lionel Messi who has been his mesmerizing self lately. The little maestro is set to achieve another feat with the Argentinean just two goals shy of reaching the 400 mark for club and country.

Barcelona’s counterparts Athletic Bilbao on the other hand have not scored a victory at the Camp Nou in 13 years and will have to put forth an extraordinary performance to get the better of Luis Enrique’s chargers.  The visitors will however be full of confidence after securing a place in the Champions League following their win over Napoli in the play-off.

The Basque club lost their opening match to Malaga but responded well by defeating Levante by a 3-0 score line in their last outing.

In other fixtures Real Sociedad who impressed against Madrid last time out will face Celta Vigo. Malaga will look to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Valencia when they face Levante. Valencia on the other hand will continue to fight for a top four place as they welcome Espanyol to the Mestalla on Sunday. Sevilla will go against Getafe in what promises to be an exciting fixture whereas newly promoted sides Deportivo de La Coruña and Eibar will battle it out at the Ipurua on Monday.
