The USA international winger will play for Birmingham City until December 13, 2014 with no recall option.

Brek Shea will have a short-term spell with Championship side Birmingham City as confirmed by the club on Thursday. Shea has struggled to get playing time with Stoke City since he joined ‘The Potters’ in 2013.

As a consequence, he had to leave on loan for a second time this year in order to get more minutes on the pitch. In Juanuary, Shea was transferred to Barnsley, where he made 8 appearances during his half-season spell.

A former MLS player, the 24-year-old has been a consistent player for the USMNT in recent years, making 27 appearances with his country since his international debut in 2010. He was also part of the squad that traveled to Brazil to play in this year’s World Cup but he didn’t have playing time during the tournament.

Upon his arrival, the player gave his first words as Birmingham City player:

"It's a big club, great fans, I'm excited. It's been a rough time through injuries and lack of playing but I'm back on my feet and ready."
