Manchester United could see the return of their former Portuguese superstar, but could be waving goodbye to the Colombian striker after only one season

This revelation may please the Manchester United faithful more than the Real Madrid fans.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been a hit ever since his then record-breaking £80m Santiago Bernabeu switch. His stats go far to prove that. He has scored 255 goals in 250 appearances for Los Blancos, winning the club two Copa del Rey tophies, one La Liga and Spanish Super Cup title, and a Champions League cup.

But now, the Portugal national team captain's time at Real Madrid could be coming to an end. According to the Daily Mail (per the Daily Star), the Liga BBVA giants are plotting a swap deal with the Red Devils which would see the 29-year-old return to Old Trafford, and in exchange, Radamel Falcao arrive in Madrid.

Despite being tipped as favorites to sign the Colombian striker when news broke out that he was made available by Monaco, Real Madrid failed to land the former Porto star, but are still keen on his services once his one-year loan spell at the Theatre of Dreams come to an end.

In the report, if the two players raise the desire to swap positions, the 10-time Champions League winners would be willing to sell Ronaldo back to Manchester United if Louis Van Gaal backs away from signing El Tigre on a permanent deal, which would cost the 20-time English Premier League champions a total of £52m.

This comes after the two-time Ballon d'Or winner reiterated his desire to one day return to Manchester, saying last week: "I love Manchester. Everyone knows that — I have said it many times. Manchester is in my heart. I left many good friends there, the supporters are amazing and I wish I can come back one day."

Ronaldo and Falcao share the same agent, Jorge Mendes, who would be quick to seal the deal if both parties agree to the swap.
