Serbia will host France in an international friendly at the Stadion Partizana on Sunday, the 7th of September 2014.

France continued its impressive run in the World Cup with another good showing as Didier Deschamps’ men picked a 1-0 win over Spain in their last friendly match. Loic Remy’s late strike settled the match, as the new Chelsea man scored the only goal of the game after an intelligent cut back from Valbuena.
The victory was France’s third in the last five matches with their only loss coming at the World Cup Qualifying stage when they lost to eventual champions Germany. Karim Benzema who plays his trade at Spanish club Real Madrid was proud of his team’s achievement and lauded the players for their persistent good work.

"It's good, it's always nice to win against big teams, especially to do it with style, and we did it tonight," he told reporters.

"We went head to head with one of the best teams of the world, so it's good for the French team and for our confidence.”

"After the World Cup, we needed to start working again and play a big game. We work together, we're a really good team and we just need to keep working."

The 26 year old had a goal harshly disallowed for offside, but the former Lyon man was quick to play down its importance claiming that the most important thing was to win.

"I have not seen the images yet and don't know whether I was offside or not. Still, the bottom line is that we won. I had a lot of fun tonight."

Serbia on the other hand have begun a new chapter under Dick Advocaat after the Dutchman replaced former manager Sinisa Mihajlovic who resigned after his failure to guide the Eagles to a World Cup 2014 berth.

Serbia missed out a place in the qualification play-offs by just three points but will be hoping for a better showing boasting some high profile names in their squad. Their defence is bolstered by the presence of Chelsea star Branislav Ivanovic as well as Man City full back Aleksandar Kolarov. Roma playmaker Adem Ljajic is also part of Dick Advocaat’s set up, whereas new Southampton player Dusan Tadic is also set to feature in the match against France.
