D.C. United looking to strengthen their roster to face the last weeks of the season.

D.C. United have signed Samuel Inkoom as confirmed by the club on Friday via its official website. The Ghanaian international was a free agent after his contract with Ukranian side FC Dnipro recently ended.

Inkoom made his professional debut in his home country in 2007. He eventually moved to Switzerland to play for FC Basel where he made 43 appearances from 2009 to 2011. After that, he joined Dnipro where he made 27 appearances before going on loan to Bastia in 2013 and Platanias in 2014.

The 25-year-old has made 46 appearances for Ghana since his international debut in 2008. He was a key player in the team that reached the quarterfinals in South Africa 2010. Inkoom was also part of the Ghana squad that traveled to Brazil to play in this year’s World Cup but he didn’t see action during the tournament.

Regarding Inkoom's signing, D.C. United general manager Dave Kasper commented:

“We are pleased to be adding an experienced player in Samuel who will provide us solid depth at the wide midfield and outside back positions.

“We welcome Samuel to the D.C. United family.”

D.C. United currently stands in the first place of the Eastern Conference and will visit Canada to face Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday.

Via Twitter, the player expressed his joy after signing for D.C.
