Five years after leaving Old Trafford for Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo dreams about returning to the Red Devils, the club he spent six successful years at

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his desire to return to former club Manchester United, claiming he one day wishes to return to the 20-time English Premier League champions.

The Portuguese ace spent six unforgettable years at Old Trafford under the guidance of legendary Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson, arriving from Sporting in 2003, winning three English Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy before his 2009 Theatre of Dreams exit.

Five years on, the two-time Ballon d'Or winner has enjoyed the same success at Santiago Bernabeu, clinching two Copa Del Rey trophies, one La Liga medal, and a second Champions League medal in the club's famous La Decima.

But now, into his sixth season with Los Blancos, the 29-year-old admits that Manchester United is still in my heart and that he yearns to pull on a Red Devils jersey in front of the club's "amazing" supporters.

"I love Manchester," Cristiano said

"Everyone knows that — I have said it many times. Manchester is in my heart. I left many good friends there, the supporters are amazing and I wish I can come back one day."

"I am happy here in Real Madrid and have four more years, but in the future you never know because they treated me unbelievably there."

"I really did love being at Manchester United," the Blancos star continued to say. "Believe me, they will be a good team again, I’m sure of it. It is a great club."

The Portuguese captain, who was linked with a return to Old Trafford last summer, believes Louis Van Gaal can see the club through these tough times, especially after signing Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao.

"This can happen," the 29-year-old added. "Bad moments and good moments. Manchester is passing through a bad moment. Last year it was a horrible season and this year they haven’t started well, either.

"But I do think they did well to buy Di Maria and Falcao. I think the team will be much better. I want to see them better because it is such a fantastic club and they deserve to be better.

"Falcao is a very good signing. He is a very good player."
