Vergara replied Sanchez’s statements, in which he assured he would never be Guadalajara’s head coach as long as Vergara owns the club.

Chivas' owner Jorge Vergara continued his ongoing feud against Mexico’s greatest player of all time, Hugo Sanchez. During an interview with a sports show, Vergara replied Sanchez’s claims in which he made it clear that, as long as Vergara owns the most popular team in Mexico, he would never accept a coaching position.

“Well, he can keep calm, because I would never hire him. Not even in my dreams, not even in my worst nightmares. We will never have a coaching job for him, so he can relax,” Vergara said.

Hugo Sanchez has constantly blamed Vergara for his short stint as Mexico’s National Team coach. “El Pentapichichi” accuses Vergara of badmouthing his job with other club owners so he could hire Sven-Goran Eriksson for El Tri’s coaching position.

“I think it’s a pity he doesn’t acknowledge he was sacked because he did a poor job. He wasn’t sacked because of anything I said, he lost the job because he sucked doing it,” the owner added.

On his team’s performance this season, Vergara still has faith they will turn things around to avoid relegation:

“I’m convinced we will never surrender. I know that it’s the players’ responsibility to make things happen on the pitch, but as the owner I have to be able to identify the problems that don’t allow our team to bounce back from this situation,” Vergara concluded.

Chivas will face University of Guadalajara this Sunday in a Matchday 3 fixture for the Apertura 2014 tournament. The game was postponed for a month because Guadalajara went on tour through the United States, playing AC Milan and Bayern Munich.
