Even though his buyout clause is merely half of what Arsenal offered, Jurgen Klopp's team refused to let their star wingman leave the club

The first bomb of the day was a dud. After months of praises, finally Arsene Wenger's outfit bid for one of the summer's most wanted players: Marco Reus. Unfortunately for them, Borussia Dortmund denied the option and it appears the wingman will not leave Germany.

The German international was set to leave Dortmund this summer after being sought out by Spain's big three: champions Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Furthermore, Dortmund's re-signing of Japanese Shinji Kagawa seemed to be intended to substitute Reus' departure, but after a few hours of receiving Arsenal's bid, Jurgen Klopp's team rejected the transfer.

Arsenal have been very busy during this summer transfer season, having signed Chilean Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers. The Gunners are searching for a backup striker after Olivier Giroud's injury, which will keep him at least six months off the pitch.

Reus has played in 92 matches for Dortmund, scoring 43 goals in that stint. He was set to play for Germany at World Cup 2014, but a last minute injury left him out of the competition.
