The Colombia striker will join the Red Devils for the 2014/15 season after spending one year with AS Monaco.

Weeks of rumors and speculations regarding Radamel Falcao’s future finally came to an end after Manchester United confirmed the signing of former Porto striker. The club unveiled the news on Monday, with just a few hours to go before the transfer window closed. Falcao will spend one season with the ‘Red Devils’ and his contract includes a £43m buy-out clause, which Manchester United could activate once the loan spell is over.

After a struggling start to the season, Louis Van Gaal is looking to strengthen his squad and improve the team’s performance by adding top-class players. A week ago, Angel Di María was signed from Real Madrid and now Falcao becomes the second-biggest transfer of the summer for Manchester United.

Falcao started his professional career in his home country in 2002 playing for Lanceros Boyacá where he spent three years. In 2005 he joined Argentinian side River Plate where he made 90 appearances and scored 34 goals. After that, he was signed by Porto in 2009 and managed to score 41 goals in 51 appearances before he joined Atlético de Madrid in 2011. Falcao spent two seasons with Atlético and scored 52 goals in 68 appearances.

The 28-year-old striker joined AS Monaco in 2013 but he had a tough year with the French side. He scored 11 goals in 20 appearances but he spent the second-half of the season on the sidelines after picking a knee injury during a Ligue 1 match in January. The Colombian also missed the World Cup in Brazil due to this injury.

The striker commented on his signing:

“I am delighted to be joining Manchester United on loan this season. Manchester United is the biggest club in the world and is clearly determined to get back to the top. I am looking forward to working with Louis van Gaal and contributing to the team’s success at this very exciting period in the club’s history.”

Radamel Falcao is expected to earn £350,000 a week. More than Rooney and Van Persie.
