In the pick of fixtures Liverpool will face Tottenham at the White Hart Lane on Sunday, the 31st of August at the White Hart Lane.

The Reds were given a beating in their last outing as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City. Stevan Jovetic struck twice and Sergio Aguero added a third only moments after coming as Man City picked up an impressive 3-1 victory at Liverpool’s expense.

Liverpool’s attack seemed very uninspiring last Monday but the Reds have bolstered their attacking options having added Italian international Mario Balotelli to their ranks. The former AC Milan forward finalized his move to the Anfield last week and was at the Etihad as Liverpool suffered a 3-0 defeat. However on Sunday the Italian international will take field as confirmed by manager Brendan Rodgers.

"I think by the weekend [he'll be ready to play]," he said.

"He's been into pre-season and he's played three 45-minute games. He might not be up to full match speed, but he's looking fit."

"We've done some analysis on him. The medical and sports science team have worked with him already and he's in very, very good condition. “

"He's in to work and he'll be available for the squad for the weekend."

Tottenham on the other hand have had a brilliant start to their new season under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino. Spurs won their opening match against West Ham which was followed by a strong 4-0 win over newly promoted side QPR. Correspondingly the North London side also faced AEL Limassol in Europa League which they comfortably won by a 5-1 score line on aggregate to secure qualification to the Group stages of Europe’s second most popular competition.

Tottenham have added a number of new faces to the squad including defender Eric Dier who has struck twice in as many Premier League matches so far, whereas new recruit Federico Fazio is also set to make his debut.

Spurs will be without right back Kyle Walker as well as striker Roberto Soldado for the match against Liverpool. Adam Lallana on the other hand could make his competitive debut for the Reds after recovering from his knee injury. There are however doubts over Alberto Moreno (ankle), Glen Johnson (thigh) and Jose Enrique (knee).
