£32m signing Diego Costa looks set for a lengthy period on the sidlines after suffering a hamstring injury on Wednesday

Chelsea have been rocked with an awful news. Spanish star striker Diego Costa has picked up a worrying hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old Brazilian-born attacker has enjoyed a wonderful start to the English Premier League after sealing his £32m Stamford Bridge switch.

After winning La Liga with Atletico Madrid, Costa has settled to life in England very quickly, scoring two consecutive goals for Chelsea in as many games.

But for a team only boasting Didier Drogba as the only other recognized number nine, given Torres is set for an AC Milan transfer, news of a Costa sideline may rock the Blues fans.

According to Sky Sports, the club claims Costa has suffered a "minor muscular injury" and will be monitored closely ahead of Jose Mourinho's side's crucial away game against Everton, on Saturday.

Reports suggest the Spanish striker could face a lay off as long as six weeks, meaning a Chelsea exit for El Nino might be called off by the club's Portuguese coach.

On Wednesday, the former Los Rojiblancos star took part in a double training at the club’s Cobham base, and his hamstring problems was only detected after the session ended.

According to Goal, the extent of his injury is described as "minor", but in truth the extent has not yet been determined, leaving Chelsea in limbo over the player's chances of making the weekend clash with the Toffees.
