Cameroon’s historic striker signed a two year deal with Everton, with the possibility of a debut against his former team, Chelsea.

Samuel Eto’o and Jose Mourinho go way back, and that is all that matters to him. During a press conference to present the Cameroonian star as a Toffee, Eto’o spoke candidly about his former coach, ending any dispute going on about Mourinho’s remarks about the player’s age.

“The only thing I have to say about Jose is that I want to thank him for giving my opportunity in English football. It is down to him that I have had the chance to play and integrate into the Premier League. That is the end of the matter,” Eto’o said.

Eto’o was sought out by many Premier League sides, including city rival Liverpool. On that matter, the player explained why he finally chose to sign for the Toffees:

“In the last ten days I’ve travelled quite a lot and met a lot of managers, but the one that gave me most belief was Roberto (Martinez). I now want to help the team and use my experience,” Eto’o added.

The African player will wear number 5 because “Five was available, so I picked that. I could have gone for No. 22, which is the birthday of my future wife. Maybe next year, if I change again, I’ll pick that one,” Eto’o concluded.
