The USMNT’s midfielder gave his first press conference as Revolution player on Tuesday.

On Sunday, Jermaine Jones was selected by the MLS to play for New England Revolution after a ‘blind draw’. The 32-year-old midfielder signed an 18-month contract with the ‘Revs’ and is expected to earn around $5 million during that period. Jones has made 46 appearances with the USMNT, including all of the U.S. matches during the last World Cup in Brazil.

Jermaine Jones gave his toughts on coming back after not playing for a few weeks.

"After that long break it’s not easy to come back, but I will work hard to come back good, in shape. I watched already that game against Chivas so I know about Lee (Nguyen) and Charlie (Davies) already, I know him. I know a couple of those guys from TV. We have a good team."

On Tuesday, Jones had his first training session with the club and also gave his first press conference, provoking reactions from his teammates and also from the fans.

“He’s a good player,” Kelyn Rowe commented after training. “He doesn’t lose the ball very often. You see that right away. Obviously, it’s his first training with us and he has to get used to it a little bit, but come next week, come maybe even tomorrow, he’s going to be the best player on the field.”

Captain Jose Goncalves also had his word on Jones’ arrival.

“He’s an experienced player who has been around for many years. This is something very important for the team. This is very good for the Revs.”

The German-American player is expected to make his MLS debut on Saturday when the ‘Revs’ travel to Canada to face Toronto FC.
