According to reports, Fernando Torres's time as as Chelsea player is nearing its end...except for one issue.

Since arriving from Liverpool in January 2011, Fernando Torres has failed to justify the fee that saw him become the most expensive signing in Premier League history.

Until his £50 million fee was recently broken by Manchester United's signature of Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid, the Spanish international held the dubious honor of being branded as one of the biggest flops due to his astronomical price tag and inability to find the back of the net on a regular basis.

Despite the departures of Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o, the feeling was that the former Atletico Madrid man was never going to be first choice at Stamford Bridge, especially with the big purchase of Diego Costa and the return of legendary attacker Didier Drogba.

As a result, reports throughout this summer have linked him with an exit, with him being associated with a move to Italy.

Roma was touted as a possible destination in a possible loan/exchange deal for Italian international Mattia Destro, and now Milan has been mentioned as the latest team to express interest.

The Rossoneri have already sold Mario Balotelli to Liverpool and are now hoping to bring in some attacking reinforcements ahed of the upcoming Serie A campaign. However, as is the case with many Italian teams, they are not willing to splash the cash to bring him in permanently and would rather try to get El Nino on loan--something that reports claim is not appealing to the player.

Two issues, according to the report, are his price tag, set at £25 million by Chelsea, and his insistence on coming in on a permanent move, with his wages set at a whopping £170,000 per week, something that is far out of reach for the 7-time Champions League winners.

With just a week remaining, it will be interesting to see whether Torres is still a Blues player come September or if he will be donning the kit of another team in a different league entirely.
