The Argentinian coach leaves Puebla after obtaining only five points in the Apertura 2014 tournament and just five points away from relegation.

Ruben Omar Romano has been sacked from Puebla FC’s head coaching job. This move, confirmed by the team via a press release, gives credit to the rumors revolving around Romano’s future for at least one week.  With last Saturday’s loss against Monterrey, it was just a matter of time for Romano to lose his job.

Romano took the job back in 2013, when Manuel Lapuente was dismissed after five weeks of the Apertura 2013 tournament. The Argentinian coach accumulated nine wins, eleven draws and fifteen losses, avoiding relegation last season by just two points. For this, the club expressed its gratitude towards Romano, wishing him well in any endeavor he takes on after this experience.

As for who will take the helm for Los Camoteros, Chairman Jesús Lopez Chargoy has spoken with well-known coaches such as Victor Manuel Vucetich or José Manuel de la Torre, both former coaches of Mexico's National Team. Since signing any of those coaches may be out of their budget, they may end up hiring Alfredo Tena, who was Javier Aguirre's assistant last season with Espanyol and has already coached "La Franja", or Pako Ayesterán, who also was rumored to be a candidate to take UNAM's coaching job, before it eventually was offered to Guillermo Vázquez.

Puebla is trying to avoid relegation once more during this season, counting on experienced players such as Luis Noriega or Mexican legend Cuauhtémoc Blanco. "La Franja" will play last place Morelia on Matchday 7 of the Apertura 2014 tournament.
